Top flight powerlifters continue to come of out of woodwork of South Carolina. Several lifters, competing at their first contest, destroyed long standing state records while performing very well at the Fall Festival of Power this past weekend.
Dawson Windham broke records across the board in the T2 division (16-17 years of age) and would have won the open division if he had entered it by totalling 1400 lbs. Generally training as a bodybuilder, he emfatically showed that he could crossover and be successful in strength competitions as well.
Lauren Rutan, who is an accomplished Olympic lifter, dominated the field in route to winning the best overall female lifter award. She broke State records in all three lifts in her first meet!
Jake Howerin, who holds multiple records in the 74 kg class, moved up to the 83 kg class for this meet and set records in all three lifts as well as the total in the 18-19, T3 division. Great Job!
Mike Effner went 9 for 9 while winning the 93 kg, open class, Brittany Wolford won the 63 kg, open class and Josue Mireless broke the bench only state record in the T2, 74 kg class.
Congratulations to all lifters who competed.
The USA Powerlifting SC State Championship is coming up on December 12, 2015 in Fort Mill, SC. There are still several spots available for this meet so send your entry form in ASAP if you would like to compete. We currently have around 70 lifters.
Records have been updated and currently reflect those records broken at the Fall Festival of Power. Awesome lifting!
