We are only 3 months away from the tenth annual USAPL Battle on the Border! The Battle has made its way back to South Carolina and will once again be held at the Fort Mill YMCA.
Very important points to be aware of:
We have listened to our lifters and worked very hard to provide as many opportunities to lift as possible during the last year. In addition to the annual Battle that takes place in the Charlotte area and our SC State Championship, this past year Kevin Locklear did a fantastic job in Charleston directing the Palmetto Powerlifting Classic.
Currently, the Battle on the Border roster is being dominated by North Carolina lifters! They occupy 80% of the spots taken. This is our house - we should have at least 50% of the lifters represented at this meet. I understand that the State Championship was just a few short weeks ago, however RAW lifters should be able to compete 10-12 weeks after a contest.
South Carolina lifters notoriously have been on the later side when it comes to entering contests. Back in the day, we used to be able to walk into a meet on the day of the contest to compete. These meets were usually on the smaller side and never used computers to keep up with results. Today, that is not possible.
The Battle on the Border fills up faster and faster every year. We currently have 74 lifters on the roster and I have several entries in my inbox waiting for me to print. Last year, I had around 40 lifters leading into Christmas. If you would like to enter the Battle, please do not wait. In addition to the traditional USPS, I am now accepting Paypal payments along with emailed entry forms. It's quick and easy!
As a South Carolinian, I originally started the Battle on the Border 10 years ago to give the lifters of SC a meet to compete in that rivals some of the best meets in the country in regards to quality of lifting, awards, and venue. I think we have done that. Right now this is a North Carolina meet held on our soil. Please consider entering the Battle and represent our State. Check out the roster and entry form at www.CarolinaStrength.org.
If you don't plan on competing, please consider volunteering at the Battle. We always need help spotting, loading, taking attempts, setting up the venue. Those of you who spot and load will earn a position to compete at a USAPL Carolina event in the future.
Thanks so much and I look forward to seeing you in March.
