SC STATE CHAMPIONSHIP CANCELLED SECONDARY TO WINTER STORM WARNING

January 6, 2017

The USA Powerlifting South Carolina State Championship that was scheduled for this upcoming weekend has been cancelled secondary to a winter storm advisory that is in effect from 7 P.M. on Friday to 1 P.M. on Saturday.  Current estimations for snowfall are between 3 and 5 inches for Friday night and Saturday.  We feel that it would be both unsafe and irresponsible to ask our lifters and volunteers to travel the roads in such conditions.

We have been inundated with emails and texts from lifters and volunteers concerned with travel to and from the Fort Mill, SC area.  The Upper Palmetto YMCA will also be closed the entire weekend.  We apologize for any inconvenience this has placed on lifters who trained for this event.

What do we do now?  Unfortunately we will not be able to issue refunds directly as the majority of the funds collected have been invested in medals, t-shirts, and hotel accommodations for our officials.  Here is the current plan:  Lifters who are currently on the SC State Championship roster will be given the option to enter either the USA Powerlifting Battle on the Border that will be held April 8, 2017 or we can apply your entry fee to the 2018 SC State Championship.   It will be the lifter's responsibility to send in a new entry form for the upcoming Battle or next year's SC State Championship.

The Battle on the Border is currently filling up quickly with 80 lifters currently registered and on the roster.   The Battle will now be expanded to a three platform competition and the lifter cap will be increased to the first 150 lifters registered.  We will utilize the Battle as our SC State Championship for the year of 2017 and American records can be broken.  Please do not hesitate to get your entry form in.
